Competition entry Torre Rinalda 2023, Reuse Italy
Coworkers: Ingrid Lien Halvorsen, Torgeir Ketilsønn Kjevik, Elisabeth Otte

The tower of Rinalda was a former military tower protecting the land from invaders on
the sea. Today, it stands as a symbol of a different era as its decaying day by day. The
usage of the tower is repurposed into protecting the sea. The ocean is today facing
many challenges, caused by humans. The tower works as a sea-protection centre,
creating awareness as the lamp blinks each time the ocan hits the tower. Therefore, it
will eventually stop blinking in the future, as the sea level rises, and it will light up as a
symbol. A corten steel ramp, surrounding the tower, makes it accessible for everyone.
The first level has an exhibition space about recent research about the state of the
ocean and sea life.
